Hi everyone!
Just wanted to let you guys know that I do commissions, and that I recently updated my commission sheets! I do various commissions like art, pixelart, etc.

If anyone here plays Rivals of Aether and know of my various mods for that game, I also take commissions for stages and even full characters! I don't have a sheet for those (although stages are covered in the pixelart sheet), but contact me if that's something you're interested in.

Here's a trailer showcasing the newest update for my Metroidvania game Super Gear Quest!
The update adds a whole new ice cave area, new bosses, more quests, and a big addition to post game content! And it's currently on sale, 50% off.
For those who don't know, Super Gear Quest is a Metroidvania game inspired by the likes of Cave Story, Metroid, Kirby, and Megaman. In this game you mostly play as Starter, a "Kewtian Android" who wakes up from an 100 year slumber with an apparent mission to save the planet Tanrega from it's certain doom.
Along the way you meet new friends that help you with your mission, as well as villains who attempt to squabble you. The game has many fun mechanics such as multiple upgradable weapons, dynamic movement, and even segments were you get to play as a pair of characters called Avatar Duo, who have to fight off viruses inside of Starter's body!

Hi! Been a while since the last update, but during that time some stuff has been done.
I'll try get right into what's new.
First though, if you want to see these things much earlier and more frequently, see what else I'm up to, and more, you can join the community and visit the the Discord server!

Anyways, I finished up more animations for Sol! These include versions for both his outfits.
I also have a new character for the game: A plushie called Karo. Sol brings him along on the adventure, and he'll most likely be a sort of companion character.
Karo also has a sprite, and I did a bit more on the intro of the game. Early on before going on his adventure, Sol gets his stuff from his room:
Like I mentioned, I also did more on the intro. This has slowed down a little bit and it isn't really complete yet, but I did mess more with some parts:
Most of the first half of the intro (at least) is entirely functional. I'm aiming for a fairly short intro to avoid the game having a boring and/or slow start, to try and get right to the point.
There are one or two opportunities for the player to explore a little in the middle of the intro sequence if they want to do that as well. And after the intro, the player is able to freely start exploring, since exploration is a very important part of Solarblade.
Anyway, I also finally started on a new version of the main city; Calia! It has some 3D houses and a bunch of new tiles and details.
I also finally got started on new mugshots/portraits for the game! Previously only Sol had a few of these, and they were pretty old. So I've made new ones, which include a ton of expressions for Sol, and some mugshots for other characters (some of which also have many expressions, such as Tiel). Most of them arent shown here, but it's still some of them:
Now for something a little different: The game is going to have some 3D parts in it, so Sol also needs a model. I've slowly made one for him over time, and its just about ready for use. Not only that, but I also finalized the rigging (so that it can be animated), and implemented IK (so that his feet properly follow the ground).
Particularly IK is very new for me, as I haven't used it before... So it was a bit difficult to implement and figure out, but I like the result!
I also created a brand new tileset, as I had one somewhat productive day a bit back. It will be useful later on, since I intend a part of the game to feature lots of fire and lava:
This also includes a new enemy: Eruptlet! These guys are pretty cute, but they'll get spooked if Sol gets too close, causing them to shoot fireballs.
Solarblade still doesn't have many functional enemy types, so this guy is still among one of the first. It was also the first attempt at vertical projectiles in the top-down environment the game uses, but everything worked really well. They're basically completely ready for use.
I think I'm just about out of stuff to post now. I have a lot of ideas for this game, it will just take a bit of time to work through everything and find out what I end up with. Hopefully this update was worth the wait anyway.

Sorry for no updates, I didn't have as much to report on. I've saved up a few things since last though, so I have some stuff on Solarblade to show now.

First, I made some more tiles and environments, like more interior stuff and different colored brick tiles.
I also did a lot of spriting and animating on Sol himself. More animations for his casual clothing sprites, for example.

I also partially coded the game over functionality, finally.
It also has a pretty finished animation, too!

There's also a new mechanic I began to implement, which is a sort of EXP system:
The idea is that Sol gets bigger during the game (which was already a thing, canonically), so to represent that there is EXP which makes him grow larger.
This was initially just an idea for fun, just a number that represents what size he has reached, but it's possible that it might affect some things beyond that.
I'm pretty happy with the effects and the animated UI for this, though. So I also did some similar stuff for the games money system. Might have more on all that another time.

I've been working on Solarblade again. First, I made a bunch of new decorations and tiles, such as flowers!
Some are unique to the forest, aka Terga Woods:
I also improved the games shadows a little, and implemented cloudy weather:
With improvement to shadows, also comes darkness! This will be very useful for places like dungeons and dark environments. Maybe even for night time, too.
Sol also now has animated idle states now, instead of a single frame like before. The simplicity of the earlier idle animations worked fine, but I wanted to do more for the game's animations and I think this looks good!
And on the topic of animations, I have also fixed up part of the games intro, and created an unique animation for Sol during it.

That's all I got for Solarblade this week, but I also added this to my released game (Super Gear Quest), as someone requested it. A screenshake setting:
It's not too special, but someone wanted it, so I wanted to add it at some point. I haven't updated SGQ with this yet either, but the feature has been implemented.

I was thinking I'd try start making weekly updates on here! Mostly just to share what I post on twitter and get a bit more out of things, as recently I started attempting to make a bunch of tweets every week.

I've been working on my next game, which is Solarblade. Some of you probably know it already; it's about a young giant called Sol. Keeping motivation up is hard, but I have some stuff this week anyway.
First off, I modeled a bunch of new houses for the game! It uses a mix of 2D and 3D graphics, so exterior buildings and such will be mostly 3D.
After that, I set up a bunch of the interior of buildings, made it possible to enter them, added a bunch of new interior tiles the game didn't have before, and so on. This still needs a lot of work, but the basics are there.
I also coded a bunch of weather stuff, as the game has a dynamic day and night cycle and a weather system. For now this includes wind, rain, sunny days, fog, and cloudy skies. It's not all complete, but it's mostly there!
